Climate Smart Shelterbelts – Leneva (Wodonga) VIC
Well-designed shelterbelts can deliver significant benefits for farm productivity and resilience, including improved pasture growth, reduced livestock losses, increased wool production, carbon storage, and habitat for native wildlife.
We will visit a property with a cattle enterprise in Leneva and meet the landholder to learn from their experiences.
Sustainable Farms and Agriculture Victoria will also discuss:
- The productivity benefits of shelterbelts on farm
- Science-based recommendations of how to optimise the benefits of shelterbelts for biodiversity
- Shelterbelt design and maintenance
- Meet the property owner to look at newly established shelterbelts and discuss local experience, what worked and what didn’t on a Leneva cattle property.
Please wear suitable footwear for a paddock walk, and bring warm clothing. Lunch will be provided.
Supported by the Australian Government through the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
